Maxing out and more garden work

This morning at Crossfit we did Crossfit Total. This is where we maxed out on press, back squat, and deadlift. I have not maxed out on weights since the late 90′s while in the Marine Corp and could not even begin to tell my numbers. Although I knew my numbers for today would not be anything impressive I did like the idea of having some sort of baseline or beginning numbers so I can track progress.

Here I am doing a max on deadlift.

I am hoping to help out Brian (the owner of Crossfit Bartlesville) get some media type exposure so I brought my video camera to take some photos and videos. I put together something real quick to post on my YouTube channel. Nothing fancy.

After all that maxing out I relaxed for a bit and then started working in the backyard. If you have been following along you should know that I am hoping to turn part of my backyard into a garden. I have been doing some reading and watching of interesting videos about the advantages of growing a seasonal garden and I wanted to try growing one of my own. This is going to be a big endeavor that will take some time but I am hoping to see it through.

My mother came over to help and we cleared out a lot of the weeds and stuff.

I had some huge roots to pull out and used water to help soften the dirt.

It took some time but I was able to pull out a big chunk of the top part.

I treated my mom to some watermelon. So good after working out in the heat.
