This post and a few to follow are inspired by Shawn Achor and his TED presentation on the Happy secret to better work.
I am grateful for my iPhone. Yes, it is a material thing. It is not something I can take with me when I die. But you gotta admit that is a pretty nifty gadget. I mean it is my alarm clock, my kitchen timer, my music player, my podcast player, my calendar, my reminder, my gps, my run time keeper, my flashlight, my calculator, my always-with-me photo and video camera, my social connection, and yes, my phone.
I am grateful for classical music. I love the thumping beat of a bass-heavy dance song and the rocking guitar riffs of a good rock song but I can not do without my classical music. It is just so calming and soothing to listen to wind instruments. It just stirs the emotions.
I am grateful for my iPad. Ok so I mentioned my iPhone earlier and some people just laugh and say that they iPad is just a big iPhone. Well…it is, and that is what makes it great. I mostly use my iPad to read blogs and books. It is awesome to have all my books with me wherever I take my iPad.
Today I ran 5 miles. I set my Runmeter app for 4 miles but ended up running 5. My knees bothered me a little so I ended up ordering my new running shoes today. I should have them by Friday. Yay me! They are the Saucony Kinvara 3s. I have had the Kinvara 1, and Kinvara 2 and have loved these shoes for running and after reading all the reviews the Kinvara 3s should not disappoint.
As soon as I hit publish on this post I am going to practice meditating. Sure you might be thinking what does he mean practice, well it is not quite as easy as you would think, to meditate, thoughts just keep racing through my mind. I am going to sit still and just relax for 5 minutes and empty my thoughts.
So for my random act of kindness for my previous post was not all that wonderful. I just volunteered to do something for someone that others seem to avoid doing. But, I approached with a positive attitude rather than being negative like everyone else was so that made me feel good.
Tomorrow I will again seek out my random act of kindness.
